The end of the year is marked by tight deadlines, goals to meet, and important decisions that often make the period exhausting, especially for executives and business leaders. The pressure to deliver results can generate emotional and physical overload, increasing the risk of burnout. Therefore, it is essential to adopt effective strategies to deal with responsibilities and preserve mental health.

Burnout is a condition characterized by physical and mental exhaustion resulting from exhausting work situations. This state not only affects productivity, but also personal relationships and the general well-being of professionals.

Recognized by the World Health Organization as an occupational disease, the syndrome has become increasingly common in a corporate world marked by constant pressures. The main symptoms include extreme fatigue, difficulty concentrating, irritability, and a sense of worthlessness. Executives, in particular, are among the most vulnerable due to high demands and the responsibility to make critical decisions.

To get an idea of the seriousness of the problem, it is estimated that burnout syndrome affects about 30% of Brazilian workers, according to the National Association of Occupational Medicine (Anamt). Therefore, it is essential to adopt effective strategies to deal with responsibilities and preserve mental health.


Productivity methods to aid the routine

Obviously not dispensing with the treatment performed by health professionals, but implementing productivity techniques can be an excellent way to alleviate everyday burden and prevent emotional exhaustion. These practices help organize demands and stay focused on priorities, promoting a more balanced environment. Below are some practical suggestions:

  • Classify tasks by urgency and importance: This approach allows us to direct attention to activities that really require immediate action, leaving the least priority for more appropriate moments.
  • Delegate tasks efficiently: Transferring responsibilities to others in a strategic way not only alleviates the workload, but also strengthens the team's collective performance.
  • Bet on time management: Using tools such as the Pomodoro method or the Eisenhower matrix helps to better structure the day, making it possible to perform tasks with greater efficiency.
  • Include regular breaks in the day: Short breaks help recharge mental and physical energy, preventing continuous wear and tear and increasing productivity in the long term.
  • Set limits for emails and messages outside of office hours: Setting specific times to handle external communications is essential to preserve a healthy work-life balance.

Keeping your mental health up to date is as important as meeting organizational goals. Companies play a fundamental role in creating a work environment that prioritizes employee well-being.

Investing in prevention strategies protects professionals and brings benefits to companies, such as increased productivity, reduced sick leave costs, and improved organizational climate.

The end of the year can be challenging for those who work, but with the adoption of productive methods and mental health care, it is possible to go through this period in a balanced way. Companies that are committed to the well-being of their employees create a healthier and more efficient environment, ensuring better long-term results.
